FCSO Training

FCSO will be hosting the  HR218 for retired LEO's from 0900-1500 each day on the Action Range. Gate will open at 0800

HR-218 Retired LEO Firearms Qualification

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office hosts an HR-218 qualification during the Spring and Fall of each year. The qualification is designed to satisfy the requirements of the Law Enforcement Officer’s Safety Act of 2004, also known as HR 218, and is the Florida Department of Law Enforcement 38-round course. Certification is good for one year from the date of issuance.

This course will be held at the Flagler Gun and Archery Club, 1290 East County Road 90, Bunnell, FL 32110.

Retired law enforcement officers residing in Flagler County will be given priority enrollment. Retired law enforcement officers residing outside of Flagler County may also qualify based on the availability of instructors. There is no cost for participation.

Retired officers must bring the following to the range:

• A retired law enforcement identification card. Candidate must have retired in good standing.
• A Florida Driver's License or another form of photo identification.
• A serviceable weapon and functioning holster to properly secure your weapon during the courses of fire.
  • No five-shot revolvers can be utilized.
  • Six-shot revolvers must utlize a speed loader
    • (12 rounds with reload in 20 seconds)
  • Semi-automatic handguns must have six (6) round capacity with minimum of two (2) magazines
  • Holster must be a design that allows for drawing and holstering the weapon in a safe manner. No cross draw, shoulder holsters, pouches, packs, etc. can be utilized as a holster.
• A minimum of 80 rounds of ammunition.
• Eye and ear protection.

Sign-ups will begin at 8 a.m. Participants will be issued a time slot to complete the qualification course

• First Qualification line will begin at 9 a.m.
• Time slots will start in half hour increments (i.e., 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, etc.)

The HR-218 Retired Officer Release and Indemnity Agreement and HR-218 Retired Officer Request for Firearm Qualification will be provided by instructors on the day of training.
